GNPA In Legal Tussle With ELAND International

Officials of ELAND International an Indian-based firm have taken possession of 14 vehicles belonging to Ghana National Procurement Agency, GNPA in a bid to retrieve over 3 billion cedis owed it by GNPA.

ELAND International is reported to have imported over 500 thousand bags of rice for sale in Ghana sometime last year.

Sources say the two parties entered into a warehousing and marketing agreement for the sale of 32,000 bags of rice.

However relations between the two turned cold this year compelling GNPA to seek legal action to retrieve over 600 thousand dollars in what it described as rent arrears owed it by ELAND International in connection with the warehousing of the goods.

But ruling was given in favour of ELAND International to retrieve 3.2 billion cedis for the 32 thousand bags of rice in GNPA?s custody.

Chief Executive of GNPA, Abel Edusei told JOY Business Report that although the Agency picked up some bags of rice from ELAND, they were not of the specified quality.

Mr. Edusei further noted that GNPA would pursue its legal suit to retrieve the rent arrears owned it by ELAND International
