GLICO launches inaugural ESG report

The Group Chief Executive Officer of GLICO Group, Edward Forkuo Kyei, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sustainable business practices and responsible corporate governance with the launch of its maiden Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report.

According to him, the report marks a significant milestone in GLICO’s journey towards integrating sustainability into its operations while creating long-term value for stakeholders.

Speaking at the launch of the company’s ESG initiatives on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, Forkuo Kyei described the publication as a landmark document that reflects the group’s dedication to responsible business conduct and corporate citizenship.

“We are gathered here today for a very important occasion, which is the official launch of our inaugural Environmental, Social and Governance Report, a landmark publication that reflects our commitment to sustainable business practices, responsible corporate governance, citizenship and long-term value creation,” he stated.

The GLICO Group CEO noted that for more than two decades, GLICO Health has remained focused on providing innovative and accessible healthcare financing solutions to improve the lives of individuals, families, and businesses across Ghana.

“Over 20 years of experience in Ghana’s private health insurance industry, GLICO Health has remained committed to providing innovative and accessible healthcare financing solutions that improve the quality of life of individuals, families and corporate bodies,” he said.

Forkuo Kyei explained that throughout its operations, the company has consistently sought to balance profitability with its responsibilities to customers, employees, regulators, communities, and the environment.

“Throughout this journey, we have consistently sought to balance business growth with our responsibility to customers, employees, communities, regulators and the environment as a whole,” he noted.

He further revealed that the launch of the report represents the beginning of a broader ESG reporting framework that will be implemented across all companies within the GLICO Group.

According to him, the initiative will cover GLICO Life, GLICO General Insurance, Glico Pensions Trustees, GLICO Capital, GLICO Healthcare, and other subsidiaries under the group.

“Today’s launch carries added significance because it marks the commencement of our group-wide ESG reporting journey across the Glico Group,” he stated.

Forkuo Kyei said the report highlights how responsible business practices can contribute to improved healthcare access, stronger stakeholder confidence, and enhanced corporate resilience.

“Through this report and today’s engagement, we seek to highlight the important role that responsible business practices can play in expanding healthcare access, strengthening stakeholder confidence, improving corporate resilience and supporting national development,” he added.

The launch comes at a time when Environmental, Social and Governance standards are becoming increasingly important to investors, regulators, and consumers globally, with companies under growing pressure to demonstrate commitment to sustainability and ethical business practices.

ESG reporting is gradually gaining traction in Ghana’s corporate sector as businesses seek to align with global sustainability standards while enhancing transparency and accountability.
