GIPC launches 24-hour premium service to boost Ghana's FDI inflows

The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has unveiled a new initiative aimed at enhancing the country’s Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows.

The 24-Hour Premium Service is designed to make Ghana a more attractive destination for trade and investment by offering continuous, round-the-clock support to investors.

The service is aimed at simplifying business processes, expedite registration, renewals, and quota requests as well as ensuring investors have quick and efficient access to the services they need.

In an interview with GhanaWeb Business at the launch of the initiative, the CEO of GIPC, Simon Madjie emphasised that, the 24-Hour Premium Service, alongside the ongoing review of the GIPC Act, would align the center with current market trends, boost foreign investment and investor confidence in the country.

“We are excited about this new 24- hour service. We are confident that this new service, coupled with our ongoing review of the GIPC Act to reflect current market dynamics, will significantly enhance foreign direct investment, encourage reinvestment by existing businesses, and stimulate increased investment from local enterprises” he said.

Madjie also noted that the service is designed to align with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocols to ease business operations and investment flows across borders.

“These enhancements are in line with our commitment to the AfCFTA protocol on investment, which focuses on facilitating visas and permits for foreign workers, as well as streamlining investment procedures to improve business entry,” he explained.

For his part, the Head of Innovative Finance, Partnerships, and Markets at the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat, Dr. Ishmael Nii Amanor Dodoo, said the 24-Hour initiative is more than just a political statement. It is a call for comprehensive transformation

He stressed that for Ghana to drive investment and innovation effectively, a structural shift is essential.

The 24-Hour Economy is one of the government’s flagship programmes tailored to transform the economy by promoting round-the-clock operations in key industries with the sole aim to create sustainable jobs, enhance productivity, and position Ghana as a competitive global player.
