The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Simon Madjie, has underscored the importance of cybersecurity in sustaining investor confidence and accelerating Ghana’s economic transformation.

Speaking at the launch of the National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) in Accra, Madjie said safeguarding Ghana’s digital ecosystem was not merely a technical challenge but a strategic necessity for national development and global competitiveness.

“Digital innovation is increasingly powering trade, finance, and entrepreneurship.

"To remain competitive, the government and the private sector must work hand in hand to build robust cybersecurity systems,” he noted.

The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, also used the platform to reaffirm the government’s commitment to strengthening Ghana’s digital safety framework.

He announced plans to amend the Cybersecurity Act and introduce new legislation to tackle fake news and hate speech in the online space.

Director of the Cyber Security Authority, Divine Selase Agbeti, echoed these concerns, stressing that the rapid expansion of Ghana’s digital space requires stronger online safety measures.

He further highlighted the purpose of the upcoming Cybersecurity Awareness Month, scheduled for October, which will feature public education campaigns and stakeholder engagements.
