GGL will continue to train for effectiveness.

Tarkwa, Dec. 7, GNA-Mr. Alfred Baku, General Manager of Goldfields Ghana Limited (GGL) said the high local senior staff turnover will not discourage management in its desire to equip its human resource. He said most of these senior local employees after gaining the experience and training move on to other mining companies in Ghana and other Africa countries.

Mr. Baku said these at the graduation ceremony of 22 employees from Goldfields Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) at Tarkwa on Monday. "The huge investments being made in the training of our employees will be meaningless unless it demonstrates visible impact on their jobs", he stressed.

Mr. Baku said the company will continue to use its existing performance management systems to track the impact of such training. "We cannot expect our senior local employees to deliver, if their level of education and professional competencies is low", he stressed. He said the company spent 1.2 million United States Dollars on training last year and has so far trained 44 employees since 2007. Mr. Baku stressed that the company will continue to train and equip its staff with the requisite and standardised human and leadership principles for effective work. The Goldfields Institute has since 2007 been accredited to run programmes on Integrated Leadership Development Programme (ILDP) in South Africa, Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) United Kingdom among others. 7 Dec.10
