The Ghana Community Network Services Limited (GCNet) has been adjudged the Public Sector e-Solutions Provider of the Year at the 9th Ghana Information Technology and Telecomms Awards (GITTA) held in Accra.

On the night, GCNet was also adjudged the I.T Support Company of the Year for the second time in the history of the awards.

Since 2016, GCNet has won the coveted Public Sector e-Solutions Provider of the Year Award.

As the technical partner to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), the Registrar-General’s Department (RGD) and other government Agencies and Ministries, (MDAs), GCNet has remained the foremost Public Sector e-Solutions provider for the past 17 years to Government, its agencies and other players in the trade facilitation and business registration space.

Speaking at the 9th Ghana Information Technology & Telecom Awards (GITTA), Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia lauded GCNet and other technology companies for their pivotal roles in the government’s digitisation agenda which have contributed to successful rollout of several flagship programmes.

Citing the Paperless Ports Reforms, Dr Bawumia acknowledged GCNet and other stakeholders for their contribution towards the successful implementation of the project.

Since inception, GCNet has continued to play a major role in Ghana's digital economy with the deployment of e-solutions such as the Smart end to end e-Clearance system, e- Tax and e-Registration systems among others. These initiatives have directly impacted on the overall service delivery of the public sector to meet the needs of the citizenry.

The enhancement in the deployment of the Single Window platform for public sector entities is supported by the introduction of the Ghana Single Window Mobile App to facilitate access to trade related data.

GCNet has also deployed the e-Registrar portal which allows online business registration with the issuance of an electronic Certificate, e-shop and e-payment platforms. The e-certificate and e-payment functions on the e-Registrar portal are supported by a number of services online, including the e-Shop which allows company searches, reservation of company names and the booking of marriage ceremonies amongst others.

The state of the art end to end business registration system (e-Registrar platform) is linked to the Total Revenue Integrated processing System TRIPS the domestic tax platform, which integrates with the Customs platform and also the expenditure monitoring platform of the Ministry of Finance, known as GIFMIS.

Commenting on the milestone, Communications Manager, Mrs. Aba Lokko observed “the continued automation of the processes of the Ghana Revenue Authority (Customs Division and Domestic Tax Revenue Division – GCMS, tripsTM), the Registrar-Generals’ Department (e-Registrar), the Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs – e-MDA portal), Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Bank of Ghana (LOC) among others has ensured tremendous improvement in service delivery and turn-around time. These have impacted positively on the cost of doing business, improved competitiveness of the business environment and enhanced revenue for national development’.

She continued that ‘there is significant reduction in the time it takes to register businesses and companies, i.e. reduced the turnaround time in business registration process in Ghana making it easy for clients to register online and be able to print their Certificates (Electronic Certificate feature), Forms and Profiles from the comfort of their homes and offices or wherever they may be during online registration.

‘The new online system allows for end to end transaction at the RGD which has deepened the paperless regime to improve the ease of doing business in Ghana and to enhance the business competitiveness of the country’.

Currently, GCNet is leading the initiative to reposition Ghana to be the best business destination in Africa and the world with the integration of four key processes of relevant regulatory institutions in the business registration chain.

GCNet remains committed to partnering Government of Ghana in the pursuance of a strong path of promoting innovation in Information Technology to contribute to the transformation of the country’s economy.
