The Ghana Community Network Services Limited (GCNet), has been adjudged the Most Innovative Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative of the Year at the Northern Business Excellence Awards.
The Northern Business Excellence Awards was initiated in 2012 by Ridmut Consult in collaboration with Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), Northern Regional Coordinating Council, the Northern Development Forum (NDF) and other industry partners is a program to honor organizations and individuals that demonstrate the core values of business excellence, product excellence, sustainability and commercial success in their respective sectors annually.
The Award honors industry leaders through the acknowledgment of innovative business processes, product development, enterprise, sustainability and overall business success in Northern Ghana.
GCNET was honoured in recognition for providing the GCNET ICT Centre in Tamale as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility in 2008 to enhance ICT skills training in the Tamale Metropolis and its environs.
Receiving the Award on behalf of GCNet, the Executive Chairman of GCNet, Dr. Nortey Omaboe said citing the project in Tamale was because ICT infrastructure was relatively limited in the area in spite of the enormous opportunities available and he was humbled and encouraged that Northern Ghana recognize and appreciates their efforts and he was happy and pleased that the GCNET Tamale ICT Centre is making great impact in building the capacity of the youth in Northern Ghana through ICT training.
He indicated that he and his team of professionals at GCNet will continue to serve as pacesetters in the e-solutions space, to champion the deployment of innovative robust e-applications to impact the economy.
He said the e-solutions, so far, deployed by GCNet were a clear evidence of innovations tested and fully operational to ensure good quality content on the back of creative and excellent service delivery, integrity and professionalism to create value for the country.
