The country’s largest indigenous financial institution, GCB Bank, has thrown its support behind the first-ever day of celebration for market women in the country.
The Bank, widely recognised for its commitment to the financial needs of the ordinary Ghanaian, presented a cheque of GH?20,000.00 to the organisers of the event, at a simple ceremony at the Bank’s Head Office in Accra.
Brand Manager, Benedicta A. Ahiable, who presented the cheque on behalf of the Bank, stated that it was the responsibility of the Bank to help whenever and wherever. She added, “As a company, we are because these people are.”
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the organisers, Mr. George Ekegey Ekeha, the Director of Finance, expressed his gratitude at the Management of the Bank for the kind gesture.
He stated that the event will bring together market women from all over the region for a one-of-a-kind celebration. He added that deserving markets and individuals will be awarded with certificates, citations and various prizes.
He used the opportunity to call on other corporate bodies to emulate the good works of GCB Bank and to come on board as sponsors to help make this event a very successful one.
The Market Women’s Day Celebrations is slated for 1st July, 2017 at the Efua Sutherland Park in Accra from 9am to 2pm.
The event is being organised by I-Media Advertising in partnership with the Greater Accra Markets Association. Mucaase Foods Limited is the lead sponsor for this year’s event.
