JL Properties Limited is a wholly Ghanaian owned real estate company has transformed the former Achimota Garbage dumping site into beautiful houses and recreational centre.

The dump site was close to the main Achimota Bus Terminal and also close to the internationally-acclaimed Achimota School.

Residents took to the streets on a number of occasions demonstrating against the continuous dumping of refuse by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).

Achimota Hospital recorded over 200 cholera cases each month in 2013 during the garbage dumping period until AMA suspended the dumping activities.

The suspension was as a result of a court battle between AMA and JL Properties at which the estate developer won.

The Chief Executive Officer of JL Properties, James Orleans Lindsay speaking with Kasapa News during the launch of Phase 5 of 55 completed houses at the community said he intends to transform the whole place further.

Mr. Linsay affectionately called Uncle Ato said before JL Properties took over the place there was bad odour around Achimota and its environs stretching to Kisseman aned Haatso especially whenever it rains.house-4

He said JL Properties is transforming the place into a modern recreational centre over 10 acres of land and they will develop among other things a 5 aside football pitch, tennis court and many other things to help the community.

Mr. Linsay said their houses are user friendly comprising 3 to 5 bedrooms, including a single storey and bungalows and their vision is to create an affordable developing gated community for domestic purposes.
