The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) says it has apprehended five companies with the help the police for forging registration documents.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, GIPC said the companies breached the GIPC Act 2013 (Act 865). Two of the companies falsified documents of the Registrar General and forged certificates of GIPC.

“One is currently being prosecuted by the GIPC in court while the second company is being investigated by the police.” Three of the companies forged foreign equity confirmation letters of the Bank of Ghana.

According to the statement, the three companies said a staff member of GIPC helped them in preparing the documents for submission.

“The said staff member has been invited by the Police and is assisting with the investigations.” “Two of the companies involved in the forged Bank of Ghana equity confirmation letters are also among four companies which have cases pending before the court for failure to register with the GIPC.”
