First Lady's Maternity Unit project receives GHC 10,000 from KFC

The company donated GHC 10,000 to the project which is an initiative of the Rebecca Akufo-Addo Foundation, as part of their corporate responsibility.

The business director at Masco Foods, which manages the KFC franchise in Ghana, Sundeep Geethanandan presented the cheque to the First Lady.

The First Lady’s efforts to raise funds for the initiative were lauded by Mr. Geethanandan, who said the company was pleased to support such a project.

At the ceremony, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo thanked the management of KFC for their gesture, and called on more organizations to support the initiative which is aimed at ending the rate of maternal mortality in Ghana.

The project is to construct a unit for mothers and children at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, to ease the congestion of patients at the current unit. In May of this year, Mrs. Akufo-Addo cut the sod for the commencement of work on the project and it is expected to be completed in four months.

Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, of the Kristo Asafo Mission also made a donation of GHC 500,000 to the project.
