The National Insurance Commission (NIC) has underscored the importance of women-focused conferences in advancing financial literacy, financial inclusion, and national development.

The Head of the Central Region Office of the National Insurance Commission, Nicolina Adumuah, made the remarks at the 6th Global Women’s Professional and Business Exchange Conference and Expo held in Accra.

She said the conference provides a unique platform that brings together women from both the formal and informal sectors of the economy.

“When you look at the class of women that are in there, you are not only looking at the affluent, but also people in the informal sector as well,” she said.

Adumuah emphasised that financial education is essential in helping women manage risks and make informed business decisions.

“These conferences help shape the entire society,” she stated.

She further encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained from the sessions to improve their professional and business outcomes.

“What you learn here must reflect in your business and your daily decisions,” she added.

The Global Women’s Professional and Business Exchange Conference has, over its five previous editions, grown into a major platform for financial empowerment and cross-sector collaboration.

Since its launch, the conference has featured regulators, financial experts, policymakers, and business leaders discussing issues such as access to finance, insurance awareness, entrepreneurship, and economic resilience.

Past editions have also included mentorship programmes, investment forums, and exhibitions showcasing women-led innovations and enterprises across Africa and beyond.

Organisers say the conference has contributed to improving financial awareness among women, particularly in underserved and informal communities, while strengthening networks between institutions and entrepreneurs.

The 6th edition was held under the theme: “Building Generational Wealth – Wealth Preservation and Creation.”
