Ghana would host an international exhibition for the automobile industry slated for September 7-8 in Accra.
The exhibition would exclusively showcase some latest cars, motor bikes, spare parts, car accessories, auto insurance and loan services to a highly targeted audience.
It is also designed to bring together under one roof major players, stakeholders and consumers of automobile products and services from Ghana and beyond.
Dubbed the “Accra International Motor Fair”, the venue would be the Accra International Conference Centre.
Some targeted exhibitors include Automobile Dealers (New and Used); Accessories Manufactures ( Tyres, Batteries, Car Parts, Car Alarms, Hands-Free Equipment, etc); Lubricant Manufacturers and Dealers; Motor Finance Companies (Banks, Leasing companies, etc);Motor Insurance Companies; Dealers in Allied Services and Products( Car Hire & Rentals, Bus Services, etc) and Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies operating in the automobile sector.
Mr. Paul Asinor, the Executive Director of OML Africa, organizers of the event said "As an emerging market with the discovery of oil and gas in commercial quantities, a growing middle class in one of the world's fastest growing economies, Ghana represents a fertile market in the automotive industry.
The need for a world class motor convention as it pertains in the United States, Europe as well as in Nigeria, South Africa, etc the Accra Motor Fair will serve as a stimulant for the growth, development and sustainability of this lucrative but often neglected automobile business market.
He explained that the Accra International Motor Fair would also present an affluent audience from businesses, organizations and high net worth individuals, who simply do not have the time to conduct research when making a new vehicle purchase and who have no time to visit a car showroom and who simply do not know what was really available when it comes to buying a car, car parts and accessories, car insurance and latest car financing schemes in Ghana.
"This world class motor event was therefore created to offer the solution to these issues as well as provide the platform for leading automobile brands to showcase what they have, explain what is available and how visitors can buy it in a relaxed and fun way,” he said.
“For our exhibitors made up of some of the world's leading automobile manufacturers, the Accra International Motor Fair will ensure they can effectively interact with this otherwise extremely difficult and almost impossible to reach segment of the market," he said.
Mr. Asinor said, it was also a fantastic opportunity to meet potential buyers, build a database of future customers, whiles’ generating more face-to-face sales leads which was better value for money than just placing an advert in a newspaper.
He noted that considering the fact that since 1928 when the first motor show was held in Accra, all other attempts to host such an important event has always fizzled out, and similar shows like the Accra International Motor Fair being regularly held in Lagos, Abuja, Johannesburg, Cairo on the African continent, Ghana must have a worthy equivalent in the industry.
“Therefore, the Accra International Motor Fair is now going to be a fixture on the world automotive calendar. It is expected that a combined audience of over 3,000 visitors will enjoy the event this year."
He said an extravagant VIP Cocktail and Best Stand Awards Night would climax the event with the next day being a Family, parents together with their children, would be entreated to passenger car and motorcycle test drives, bouncy castles, music and fun. **
