Empretec Organizes Seminar For Banks

Accra, - The first training workshop to assist banks to effectively promote the growth of Small and Medium-Scale Enterprises (SME's) has ended at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, GIMPA, Greenhill, near Accra. It was organised by Ghana Empretec Foundation and the Durham University Business School (DUBS) of the United Kingdom for 35 managers of the Barclays Bank of Ghana Limited. The workshop was directed by two DUBS resource persons led by Mr. Tim Atterton, Director of Banking Programmes and officials of EMPRETEC Mrs Felicity Acquah, deputy director of Empretec, said the training programme was aimed at promoting a relationship between banks to facilitate the growth of the SME sector "through consistent partnership practices''. She said the programme, which would be extended to the staff of other banks, would enable the recipient banks to realise "their pivotal roles in the development process. ''It is also aimed at highlighting opportunities for positive contributions by entrepreneurs of the sector to the overall objectives of their businesses", Mrs Acquah added.
