Effutu Assembly approves 2014 budget

The Effutu Municipal Assembly over the weekend approved the 2014 budget of the Assembly with a call on members to contribute towards its successful implementation.

The budget, totaling GH¢ 7,234,816.00, covers areas such as the improvement and provision of educational institutions, health, water, Sanitation and the rehabilitation of lorry parks.

Addressing the Assembly, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Nii Ephraim, said the projects will be financed with the Common fund, District Development fund, Government of Ghana Grant, and other donations.

He said forty-nine (49) Hand Pump Boreholes would be constructed at ten communities in the Municipality.

The communities include Gyangyanadze, Veterinary Village, Atekyedo, Gyahadze, Low Cost extension, Sankor, Ansaful and Gyatekrom. He said citing of the pumps and its testing had already been done in the beneficiary communities.

According to the MCE, the project is being sponsored by the International Development Agency (IDA) in collaboration with the Government of Ghana.

He said five KVIP’s, with hand washing facilities for both boys and girls would be constructed at AME Zion School, Unipra South and North and Anglican Primary and Junior High, all in Winneba.

The MCE said a High Court has been opened in Winneba to stop the people from traveling to Agona Swedru and Cape Coast to seek justice.
