Ecobank donated 27.5 million cedis to KATH

Kumasi, Nov. 21, GNA - ECOBANK at the weekend gave a cheque for 27.5 million cedis in support of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

Twenty million cedis of the amount would go to the Endowment Fund of the Hospital with the Children's Ward receiving five million cedis and the remaining 2.5 million cedis to the Blood Transfusion Unit. Mr Alfred Sakyi, Kumasi Manager of the Bank, said the donation was part of their social responsibility.

"We take a lot from the people in Kumasi and we have to give back. As a responsible corporate body we would therefore continue to support them".

Mr Sakyi said the bank had been "a good friend" to the hospital over the years and recalled previous assistance to the Emergency Unit and the Children's Ward.

Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, Chief Executive of KATH, said the 10 billion-cedi Endowment Fund would be used to renovate the entire block of the hospital.

He said about 500 million cedis had so far been realised.
