ECOWAS To Hold Meeting On Donor Assistance

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) says it would hold a coordination meeting on donors' assistance in Accra today, November 14.

The Meeting to be opened by Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, Minister for Regional Integration and NEPAD, is aimed at bringing together all ECOWAS financial partners to discuss and coordinate assistance given to ECOWAS.

A statement signed by Dr Adriene Diop, ECOWAS Communications Director said the World Bank; European Union; United States Agency for International Development (USAID); Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA); United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); Department for International Development (DFID) of Britain and the African Development Bank, would participate in the meeting. "Cooperation with partners such as Sweden, Belgium, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Canada and Germany would also be on the agenda", the statement said.

It said the meeting would assist the ECOWAS Secretariat in its capacity building mechanisms and in the implementation process of its projects, most specifically the NEPAD Programme and activities related to peace and security.
