Duty on parcels collected by CEPS - Postal Head

Takoradi, Jan 20, GNA - Duty on parcels coming into the country are assessed and collected by the Customs, Excise and Preventive Services (CEPS) at Post Offices, Mr Emmanuel Armah Sabaa, Western Regional Head of the Ghana Post Company Limited, said on Friday.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Takoradi, Mr Sabaa said, "The Ghana Post has no hand in the assessment and collection of duties on parcels".

He said mail extraction or theft could take place in Ghana or outside the country but the company investigated all such complaints for the appropriate action to be taken.

Customers were compensated when the company was at fault, he said, adding that some complaints of mail extraction in the past were traced to outside Ghana.
