The Economic Advisor to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ms Radhika Lal has advised the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) to document the activities of their members and publicise it.

This, she said, would serve as a reference for society, and for future development.

“There are so many good things going on but you don't write about it, you don't document them, you don't share your experiences, so how are people supposed to know what you are doing” she stated.

Ms Radhika was addressing participants at the official launch of the Ghana Young Entrepreneurs Roundtable (GYER) on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), initiated by the Eastern and Volta Regional branch of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) at Akosombo.

The programme aims at building a core group of young business leaders to spearhead regional integration of SDG’s into private sector growth strategies.

She commended Ghana for doing well in some areas of the SDG’s, however, she said there was more to be done in areas such as sanitation, reducing poverty, job creation and maternal mortality.

A Technical Economic Advisor at the office of the Vice President, Dr Kojo Frimpong, advised the youth exhibit their leadership skills to prepare them for the future and to enable them to impart on the younger generation in future.

He said there were critical roles to be played by entrepreneurs for the country to attain the SDGs and that was why the government believes in creating an enabling environment for the private sector.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority, Mr Emmanuel Sin-nyet Asigri, who chaired the function, said the SDGs affect the daily livelihood of the people.

He said, some specific areas of the goals are being highlighted so that people can make a conscious effort to be part of the system.

The CEO of Allianz Insurance Ghana, Mr Darlington Munhuwani said, his outfit will continue to offer support and build strong partnerships with organizations and industries.

He said as Ghana is touted as the centre of Africa, there was the need to capitalise on the opportunity to make Ghana the centre of business in West Africa and the rest of the African continent.

The Chairman of the Eastern and Volta Regional branch of AGI, Mr Dela Gadzanku said, the initiative will also leverage on the image and support of leading businesses, agencies and personalities to spearhead hubs of community-based activities towards addressing a key aspect of the SDG’s.
