Distant Learner Pilot Programme for Accountants

Accra, Nov. 7, GNA - The Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) has instituted a Distance Learner Pilot Programme to support those studying for the ACCA examination to access teaching materials from the Accountancy Tuition Centre's Professional Training Club online.

The high-speed satellite connectivity provides fast and convenient access. Hard copies of the materials on the web site in the Learning Centre is held and are available for borrowing or downloading on a CD-ROM on request.

Other components of the programme include; priority access to extensive up-to-date materials both on and off-line; one videoconference tutor seminar session focussing on one ACCA syllabus subject; a mock examination, which would be marked and a three-day revision course prior to the December 2003 examination delivered by a specialist United Kingdom Tutor.

The rest include full access to the British Council Learning Centre including discussion rooms booked in advance and priority invitations to British Council events in Ghana.

The pilot programme does not provide tuition, one-to-one or otherwise. This programme aims to supplement the learning candidates currently receive either through their workplace or study location. Candidates are responsible for their own learning at their own pace. British Council Ghana facilitates candidate learning with user support.
