Direct Services Associates to the aid of unemployed graduates

Accra, Sept. 15, GNA - Direct Services Associates, (DSA) a local non-profit making and non-governmental organisation, would next month begin a month-long nationwide job recruitment drive.

This is to help unemployed graduates access the employment ladder through the provision of training programmes and linkages with opportunities.

“Our focus is to assist those willing to take up job vacancies that we have secured and those that are yet to be created with our partners and organisations,”

In a statement issued in Accra, on Thursday, Barima Adu-Asamoa, Director of DSA stated, “There are several unemployed graduates in Ghana with the numbers increasing every year. It is a major collective challenge that must be addressed in a non-partisan manner.”

The statement said the organisation aimed to recruit over 200 unemployed graduates into job vacancies with associated companies.

“We believe both the employer and the potential employee must take advantage of existing opportunities or create some; we assist in the actualisation of such partnership,” Barima Adu-Asamoa added.

It said unemployment is a major contributor to the increase in homelessness, urban migration, drug abuse, unwanted pregnancies, single parenthood, broken homes, hooliganism and crime.

“These compounded challenges stand to impact negatively on national development and can threaten peace and security, it said.

Current job vacancies include those in Media and Communications, Events Management, Human Resource, Management, Accounting and Tourism.

Scheduled recruitment drive are Greater Accra Region - October 22-23, Central Region - October 25, Western Region - October 27, Ashanti Region - October 29, Northern Region - November 2, and Eastern Region - November 5.
