President John Dramani Mahama has directed all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to declare their assets by July 15, 2025.
According to him, MMDCEs are classified as public office holders and are therefore mandated by the Constitution to declare their assets.
Speaking at an orientation and training programme for MMDCEs from across the country in Accra on June 18, 2025, he emphasised that the directive is aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in public office.
"I wish to remind you that you are among the office holders required to declare your assets, and so I expect that by July 15, all of you will have declared your assets," he stated.
Earlier, President Mahama had issued a general directive to all public office holders to declare their assets or risk losing their positions.
Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution mandates that every public officer appointed to office must declare their assets before and after holding such office.
