Telecommunication companies in Ghana, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, began rolling out increased data allocations in response to the government’s directive to raise data bundle offerings by 10 to 15 percent.
The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, announced the review of data packages on June 10, 2025, with implementation taking effect from July 1, 2025.
The move follows widespread public complaints over the high cost of internet services and aims to provide better value to subscribers.
As part of the new policy, mobile network operators MTN, Telecel, and AT have revised their data bundles upward.
AT and Telecel have increased data volumes by 10 percent across all bundles, while MTN has raised its allocations by 15 percent, its GH¢399 package now offers 214GB, compared to the 92.88GB previously.
Significant changes have been made to high-tier plans. AT’s GH¢400 package now offers 236GB, up from 195GB, while Telecel has raised its GH¢400 bundle to 250GB, a substantial increase from the previous 190GB.
