Coronavirus: Exempt us from partial lockdown – Poultry farmers to govt

President of the Poultry Farmers Association, Victor Oppong-Adjei, has appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akkufo-Addo to allow poultry farmers to go to work even though the country is fighting against the Coronavirus outbreak.

He noted that poultry farmers are unable to attend to their farms in order to cater for their birds.

Mr Oppong-Adjei told Accra-based UTV Tuesday March 31 that : “We want to appeal to the president exempt our members from restriction.

“We want our members to be able to go to work without security harassment,” he said.

President Nana Addo Dankwa last week announced a partial restriction of some areas in the country to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak.

But the President exempted some professions as well as the markets from the restriction.

The president said markets were to ensure social distancing and enhanced hygiene protocols.

“In any event, only persons involved in the food value chain can operate in the markets during this period” the President said.
