Coop Societies Urged To Use Profits To Develop Communities

Begoro (Eastern Region), 24 Oct.,

Mr. Reuben Lamptey, Fanteakwa district co- operative officer, has asked co-operative societies to use a percentage of their profits to develop their communities. He was speaking at the end of a two-day workshop for secretaries and treasurers of co-operative societies in the district at Begoro. It was organised by the Department of Cooperatives to upgrade the knowledge and efficiency of the participants. Topics treated included functions of cooperatives, roles and responsibilities of secretaries and treasurers, financial management and record keeping. Mr. Lamptey said his outfit would soon screen co-operative societies for the credit facility of the District Assembly for small- scale income generating ventures. He called on the secretaries and the treasurers to keep proper records of their activities.
