Consumers kick against 50% pure water increase

The latest hike in the prices of Sachet and bottled water products has met fierce opposition from some consumers.

Sachet and bottled water producers are increasing prices of their products by 50 percent from next week.

They have cited the recent fuel price increment, the depreciation of the cedi and increase in utility tariffs as reasons for the increment.

President of the Association Magnus Nunoo says it has become difficult for them to operate.

“Almost the prices of everything has gone up and it has affected our cost of operations. In order not to lay off workers, we have decided to increase the price in order to meet operational cost,” he said.

But some consumers who spoke to Starr News said they can no longer sustain a living in the country if prices of bottled and sachet water are also increased.
