Collecting money through MoneyGram is frustrating

Accra, Aug. 22, GNA - Ask your relatives not to send you money through MoneyGram if you do not have a passport, driver's licence or voter's identity card, a GNA encounter at the SG-SSB Money Gram branch at Premier Towers, Accra on Monday, has revealed.

The Operations Manager at the Main Banking Hall said one was required to produce a passport, driver's licence or a voter's identification card before one could cash money sent through the MoneyGram system.

Even a press card, which admits journalists to all places except security installations, is not acceptable.

The Operations Manager said when the MoneyGram was first introduced they accepted other forms of identification just like their competitors, Western Union Money Transfer and Virgo Money Transfer of Merchant Bank but some where along the line they decided on the restrictive identification system.
