Coca Cola donation towards building of school

Maasu (B/A), April 4, GNA - Coca Cola has donated GHC37,500 towards the construction of a GHC450,000 20-unit Junior High School classroom block for Delany Academy, a Catholic Basic School at Dormaa-Ahenkro established three years ago by the Patrician Brothers of the Catholic Church.

Management of the school decided to begin work on the construction of a JHS block well in advance to enable the school to prepare adequately for its pupils who now number 278 from Kindergarten One to primary three.

At a foundation stone laying ceremony at the school's premises at Maasu near Dormaa-Ahenkro to commence the construction of the E-shaped one-storey building, the Superior-General of the Patrician Brothers, Rev Bro Jerome Ellens, commended governments, local authorities and corporate bodies that had hosted and supported their development projects. He praised Coca Cola for recognizing education and choosing to contribute to its growth in local communities. The Superior-General also commended the Dormaa Community for its support for the basic school, which he said was growing steadily. Laying the stone the Public Affairs Director for Coca Cola Equatorial Africa, Mr Philippe Ayivor, said businesses had the potential to thrive in a comfortable environment for the people, hence his outfit's desire to extend its corporate social responsibility to the four key areas of education, health, entrepreneurship and disaster management.

In a message the Dean of Dormaa Catholic Deanery, the Rev Fr Anthony Asamoah, appealed to parents and guardians to instill in their children and wards religious doctrines that would groom them adequately for the enormous task of nation-building. He expressed the Catholic Church's commitment to blending all spiritual and social attributes of products of its schools for their total development and urged the schools to take advantage of programmes of the church.
