Coca Cola To Establish 2nd Plant In Ghana

Coca-Cola Company Limited yesterday disclosed plans to add one more bottling plant to its production unit in the country.

Alex Cummings, President of the company in Africa, said this when he paid a courtesy call on President J.A. Kufuor at the Castle.

Mr. Cummings is in Ghana to assess the progress of the company in the country.

He said the additional plant when installed, will increase employment and offer training programmes to the staff.

He assured the government of the company’s continued support to the various sectors of the economy, particularly in the water and sanitation areas.

Mr. Cummings expressed gratitude to the government for creating an enabling business environment which made it viable for the company to thrive.

President Kufuor described Coca-Cola Company as a strategic partner which had helped to move the government’s development agenda on many fields.

"We appreciate your support over the years and hope you will increase employment with your intended expansion," he said.

Government, he said, will also continue to play its role to support the company in diverse ways.

He urged the company to let its presence be felt in the country’s preparation towards next year’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of Ghana’s independence and the CAN 2008.

In a related development, President Kufuor yesterday granted audience to the UK branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association at the Castle.

It was led by Lord Steel, Member of Parliament for Aikwood.
