Coca-Cola Has Not Bought Schweppes Franchise From D&C

The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana has not bought the Schweppes franchise from D&C.

In a statement in Accra on Wednesday in reaction to a Ghana News Agency (GNA) story, the Coca-Cola Company of Ghana said these two local companies could not trade in the franchise of international companies as the story said.

"The Coca-Cola Company acquired the Schweppes franchise in some countries around the world from Cadbury Schweppes. The franchise had been subsequently passed on to the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana."

The statement said Bonaqua (water) has always been a brand of The Coca-Cola Company and was introduced into Ghana in May.

"The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana in an arrangement with the

local owners of D&C uses the bottling facilities to package some of its products for a fee."
