Chinese delegation visits Takoradi Railways and Ports

Takoradi, Nov. 5, GNA- Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, Minister of Ports, Harbours and Railways on Wednesday led a three-member Chinese delegation to visit the Takoradi Ports and Railway stations.

The visit was to afford the group, opportunity to access the present state of facilities at the two companies and how best they could assist the country to revive the sectors.

Mr He Nengyin, Vice President of the China Railway Construction Corporation said though strategic investors were ready to assist Ghana to revive its railway and ports, there was the need to access the viability and other relevant information about the project before any agreements could be signed.

He gave the assurance that the necessary agreements would be signed as soon as assessments have been concluded on the various sections.

Mr Emmanuel Opoku, Acting Managing Director of the Ghana Railways Company assured the delegation that the company was a viable business venture and urged them not to delay in signing the agreement.
