The Chinese Embassy has donated 16 agro-processing machines to the Savanah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA).

The equipment consists of thirteen sets of maize milling machines, two sets of soya bean milling machines and one set of millet machine with one tonne of per hour capacity each worth USD 217,400.00.

Addressing the media during the donation exercise, Minister for Special Development Initiatives, Hawa Koomson who received the machines on behalf of SADA, said a team of technicians arrived in Ghana from China on 6th July 2017 to install and train local technicians in installation, operation and maintenance of the equipment.

She was happy that SADA had started the process of carefully and transparently selecting beneficiaries who can use the machinery productively to provide service and improve their living standards.

She said the arrival of the equipment is timely as it will support the government special initiatives, which include the one district one factory, planting for food and jobs, infrastructure for poverty eradication among others.

Hawa Koomson explained that the government is in the process of taking the Bill to Parliament that will convert SADA into the Northern Development Authority, the mandate to oversee rapid development of Northern Ghana will not change.

“Two other authorities will also be created, the Middle Belt Development Authority and the Coastal Belt Development Authority,” she added.
