Chamber to promote the private sector in W/R

Takoradi Oct. 4, GNA - Mr. Ato Van-Ess, Chairman of the Sekondi-Takoradi Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on Friday said the Chamber was intensifying efforts to encourage the private sector to serve as the driving force in the economy of the region. He was speaking at an interactive meeting with the media organised by the Chamber at Takoradi. Mr Van-Ess said in line with this objective, the Chamber would organise business building programmes for small and large businesses, and offer one-stop solutions for starting businesses. He said the Chamber would "be the primary economic developer in the region, responsible for marketing the region in order to recruit new businesses in the area". The Chamber would also fight for pro-business community legislation and form public and private alliances locally and internationally, Mr Van-Ess said. He said the Chamber was planning to establish a cultural and tourism bureau for the region in conjunction with the Ghana Tourist Board and the Centre for National Culture.
