Hakeem Wemah, Chairperson at the 5th edition of the Northern Ghana Investment Conference has applauded Farouk Aliu Mahama’s pro-poor policy initiative christened Partnership for Poverty Reduction (PPR).
The four-day premiere Conference brought together key stakeholders and Northern Ghana most dominant players in cooperate Banking, Insurance, ICT and other businesses to network and interact.
It was also designed to create a revered platform that will bring together key stakeholders to deliberate on economic development issues on transport and logistics in a non-partisan and straight forward approach.
Dr. Wemah after inspecting the PPR record of activities commended Alhaji Farouk, son of late former vice president of Ghana under the Kuffour Administration for his good works in trying to alleviate poverty in his home land Yendi.
“You have done very well in impacting the lives of people in Yendi with these works you’ve undertaken thus far in impacting the lives of the ordinary people,” Dr. Wemah stated.
He also expressed delight in value addition the PPR had adopted in local rice production. “This is brilliant initiative that will help reduce the rice importation if given the needed attention,” Dr. Wemah added.
Alhaji Farouk under the PPR initiative has supplied hundreds of farmers in Yendi with free fertilizers, bottles of weedicide, cutlasses, wellington boots, Napsacks sprayers and 300 anti-snakes venom drugs.
The organisation has also trained women in vocational and trade skills, health screening and vaccination and others program as a way of achieving it’s objective.
