The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has honoured Dr Albert Antwi-Boasiako, the immediate past Director-General of the Authority, with a Dedicated Service Award in recognition of his pioneering role in Ghana’s cybersecurity development.
In a citation accompanying the award, Dr Antwi-Boasiako was described as the “Father of Cybersecurity Development in Ghana,” the CSA commended his visionary leadership, which laid the foundation for Ghana’s modern cybersecurity framework, beginning with his appointment as the country’s first National Cybersecurity Advisor, through to his tenure as the first Director-General of the Cyber Security Authority.
His stewardship was instrumental in the establishment of the National Cyber Security Technical Working Group (2017–2021), which he chaired and which later evolved into the Joint Cybersecurity Committee (JCC).
He also served as the first Chair of the African Network of Cybersecurity Authorities (ANCA) and played an active role in several global cybersecurity initiatives.
Under Dr Antwi-Boasiako’s leadership, Ghana’s cybersecurity landscape advanced remarkably, from a score of 32.6% in 2017, when he was appointed, to an impressive 99.27% in 2024, earning Ghana a Tier-1 ranking and global recognition as a role model country in cybersecurity development.
During his tenure, Ghana’s Cybersecurity Act, 2020 was enacted, making Ghana the second country in the world after Singapore to license cybersecurity service providers.
Ghana also ratified both the Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention) and the Convention on Cyber Security and Personal Data Protection (Malabo Convention) under his leadership.
The award was presented by the Deputy Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mohammed Adams Sukparu (MP), on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, during the official opening of the National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) 2025, held at Burma Hall, Burma Camp, Accra.
