The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has asked some workers who continuously steal to desist from the practice.

It also cautioned staff, especially those occupying important positions, against indecent dressing.

Chairman of the Supreme Consultative Council of COCOBOD, Hassan Idris, issued the warning on Wednesday in Accra at an emergency meeting held at COCOBOD headquarters.

The meeting gave management the opportunity to inform staff about developments at COCOBOD, including the certification of the Cocoa Industry Workers’ Union.

“What we are advising is that let us stop stealing,” said the Chairman of the Supreme Consultative Council.

“My brothers and sisters, let’s stop stealing. Most of the cases are among the men even though some ladies are also stealing.”

He said that fertilizers and chemicals are constantly being stolen by some workers of COCOBOD across the country which adversely affects the performance of the sector.

According to him, several workers who were arrested for stealing had pleaded guilty to various offences at the Disciplinary Committee of COCOBOD, noting that those staff stand the risk of having their appointments terminated if they continue to perpetuate criminal activities.

Explaining further, Mr. Idris warned staff of his outfit to desist from indecent dressing.

When some staff of COCOBOD, especially those holding senior positions, drop something and they want to pick it, some of their panties show.”
