CEO of AMAL Bank wins International Excellence Award

Accra, Ag. 2, GNA - Mr Menson C. D. Torkornu, Chief Executive Officer of AMAL Bank Ghana, on Sunday won the coveted International Excellence Award, Christian CEO of the Year 2010.

Mr Torkornu is applauded for instilling Christian ethics and values at the Bank, set-up daily vibrant devotion for staffs and organises periodic corporate prayer retreat for staffs to uplift their moral, spiritual and working ethics in the commercial field.

Databank won the Business Pioneer of the Year for introducing the ARK Funds which does not invest in alcoholic and tobacco products, while Intercontinental Bank Ghana Limited won Banking Product for Christians Award with the AGAPE Account.

The International Christian Business Excellence Ghana Award was instituted by Innovations Communications Limited to encourage businesses to exhibit their Christian faith and reflect the values in their operations in the corporate world.

Other award winners are: Mr Ken Ofori Atta, Business Author of the Year and Publication of the Year awards; Mr Martin Asamoah Menu, Chief Executive Officer of MARTCO Consultancy picked four awards 96 Christian Company of the Year, Business Consultant of the Year, Youth Facilitator of the Year, and Lifetime Achiever of the Year awards.

Maranatha Power Mission won the Social Responsibility Award, Father Andrew Campbell won the Charity of the Year Award, Bookshop of the Year by Banner of Love Christian Bookshop, Christian Mothers Association won the Church Initiative Award of the Year.

Mr Enimil Ashong, Editor of Ghanaian Times won the Media Personality of the Year Award, while Reverend Eastwood Anaba, General Overseer of Fountain Gate Chapel International won the Inspirational Preacher of the Year award.

Vice President John Dramani Mahama asked church leaders to champion and serve as agents of change in society.

He said that the church and State complement each other for the country's development adding while the church focused on the spiritual well-being of the people, the State focused on secular needs.

Ms Esther Amba Numaba Cobbah, Chief Executive Officer, STRATEGIC Communications Africa Limited (STRATCOM Africa), debunked the notion that business could not operate successfully if the owner adhered to Christian values, including integrity, hard work, diligence, excellence, and readiness to serve others.

She said that STRATCOM Africa had proved otherwise as the company had operated on these principles and been successful=85"STRATCOM created an environment that is conducive for both spiritual and professional development of staff.

"We consistently have weekly corporate morning devotions as well as quarterly prayer and fasting sessions. We believe that when staffs have a sound Christian life, it would translate into a sound corporate life".
