Accra, May 24, GNA - The Committee for the Defence of Ghana Interests (CDG), a civil society organisation has traded a number of allegations against Speed House Ghana House Ghana Limited, a crude oil company and has called for investigations.
A statement jointly signed by Paul K. Banahene, National Co-ordinator of CDG and Sammy Ayitey, the National Secretary said 93as patriotic citizens, it would be irresponsible of us to close our eyes when we see things going wrong".
"It is in view of this that we of the Committee for the Defence of Ghana Interests wish to draw the attention of the relevant security agencies and to request them to investigate the activities of Speed House Ghana Limited, a crude oil marketing company with contacts in Lausanne, Switzerland.
"We are concerned about the trading activities, especially, the oil products they sell on the Ghana market.
"We want the authorities to investigate and find how such low standard products could be allowed onto the market without the notice of the necessary authorities.
"We will also wish the security agencies to look further to find out whether there are others in the industry collaborating or conniving with them," the statement said.
The CDG also called on the authorities to investigate the origin of the imports of the company and ascertain whether what they pass as imports from Brazil really generated from that country.
"Reliable sources have disclosed that the products are actually sourced from different ships off-shore Cotonou through the agency of one TouficSaleh and so many other collaborators who will be unmasked at the fullness of time if they refuse to change from their ways.
"The question that should agitate the mind of any right-thinking person is: If the products are actually genuine, why conceal their country of origin?"
The statement said: 93Our country Ghana has established a solid reputation for good trade practices and it behoves any patriotic Ghanaian to reveal anything likely to tarnish the image of the country or lead to avoidable loss of lives.
"It is for this reason that we are raising this alarm in the hope that these allegations will not be swept under the carpet. As the saying goes, stitch in time saves nine'."
