The Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) has issued a directive requiring all businesses and individuals engaged in the export of unprocessed rubber, cashew, or shea from Ghana to obtain written authorisation from the Authority, effective May 2, 2025.

In a public notice signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the TCDA, Andy Osei Okrah, as sighted by GhanaWeb Business, the Authority emphasised its legal mandate under the TCDA Act, 2019 (Act 1010), and the Tree Crops Regulations, 2003 (L.I. 2471), to regulate and promote the production, processing, and trade of key tree crops in the country.

Accordingly, the Authority has directed all TCDA-licensed exporters to regularise their export activities in line with the provisions of L.I. 2471.

Exporters will now be required to provide proof of payment of TCDA development levies before being issued a Phytosanitary Certificate by the Plant Protection and Regulatory Services Directorate (PPRSD).

“Failure to comply with this directive constitutes a breach of the law and may attract sanctions in accordance with the relevant provisions of the TCDA Act,” the notice warned.

The directive forms part of a broader effort by the TCDA to encourage value addition within the tree crop industry and to promote Ghana’s long-term economic growth through regulated and sustainable trade.
