Business owners urged to connect with consumers

Mrs Agnes Emefa Essah, the Chief Marketing Officer of Vodafone Ghana has urged business owners to connect with their consumers in order to increase productivity.

She said with the higher penetration of mobile phones and the internet, there was greater opportunity for business owners to interact with consumers about their products and address their concerns while increasing production in the process.

Mrs Essah said this at the TEDxAccra 2015 on the theme: “The new Chapter”. It was attended by local and international speakers who delivered inspirational talks, performances and presentations on new ideas, innovative creations and better ways of serving societal and business needs.

She said digitization had come to stay and it was imperative that business owners accepted it in their operations or risk collapsing.

“Digitisation has become part of people’s lives and it is always important for business owners to be dynamic, connect with their consumers and help increase productivity,” she said.

She said Vodafone Ghana, the telecom operator for instance, believed very strongly that power is in the hands of its consumers, hence its continuous interactions with them to address their concerns.

She said social media such as facebook, twitter, instagram and others, were all avenues that could help business owners review what people were saying about their products and urged them not to abandon such platforms.

According to information on the TEDx Program’s website, TED is a nonprofit global community devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less).”

It began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics - from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages, it said.

Independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.
