The leadership of the Burkina Faso Chamber of Commerce has paid a working visit to the Port of Tema and were received by the Director of Tema Port, Sandra Opoku.
Members of the Burkinabe Chamber of commerce and the Director of Tema Port deliberated on the need to be on the Ghana Community Network (GC-Net) platform to be able to identify and verify importers.
The Mali Chamber of Commerce for instance says they are keen on promoting Ghana’s Ports in Mali as it is ranked higher than other ports like Senegal, Benin and Togo ports adding that more customers expressed interest of doing business in Ghana due to quality of service provided and safety.
They also asked for improved verification processes at the ports and an expanded parking place as well as a reliable escort service from customs among others.
On her part, the Director of Port of Tema, Sandra Opoku said her outfit is working to stop the diversion of transit cargoes.
Sandra Opoku further promised to talk to shipping lines to waive the Value Added Tax (VAT) on transit goods saying all transit trucks must be registered with a union before they can be granted entry to the terminal.
