Mr Tackie Tawiah, the 2014 best district farmer in the Prestea Hunni -Valley District, has called on government to halt the free distribution of fertilizers to farmers.
He said it would be beneficial if such products are sold to ensure a fair distribution to all farmers.
Mr Tawiah alleged that the free distribution of the products had encouraged corruption and hoarding of the product and this is defeating its intended purpose and affecting farmers in need.
He said since the products were said to be free, only favourite of a group had always received their share and more so the fertilizers arrive late.
Mr Tawiah expressed unhappiness about the current state of most of the roads in the Western region, adding that the situation is hampering farming activities.
