ASBOG congratulates Zundick and Akenteng

Kumasi, Sept. 23, GNA -The Association of Sports Broadcasters in Ghana (ASBOG) has congratulated coaches Ralf Zundick and Oti Akenteng on their appointments as coaches of the Senior National Team, the Black Stars and the Black Meteors.

The association has also congratulated Abedi Pele on his appointment as the General Manager of all the National Teams. A statement issued in Kumasi on Sunday and signed by Mr Thomas Boakye-Agyemang, the acting Secretary, hoped their appointments will help restore Ghana back to its rightful place on the world football map.

ASBOG, however, advised the two coaches to be their own men in discharge of their duties, especially Ralf Zundick and asked him to come out boldly and tell Ghanaians when he feels he is being frustrated or there is any interference in the performance of his duty.

We want him to come out when there is a problem between him and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) while he is still at post and not after leaving his job as ex-coach Burkhard Ziese did by tarnishing the good name of Ghana after losing his job.

On player selection, ASBOG urged Ralf Zundick not to allow anybody to influence his player selection adding "we entreat all other stakeholders in the game to help the coach to achieve results for Ghana. ASBOG appealed to Abedi Pele to do well to secure sponsorships for the various national teams.

ASBOG also asked the GFA to give the coaches the free hand to discharge their duties and advised it to stay away from player invitation and selection into the national teams.

It asked the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to give its maximum support, especially financial support to the handlers of the national teams saying, "we of ASBOG are tired of the no money syndrome which is gradually crippling into the development of football in the country."
