Barclays Bank presents prizes

to winners of English Premier League raffle draw

Accra, Jan. 17, GNA -The 20 winners of the Barclays Fixed Deposit campaign raffle draw were officially presented letters of authority by management of Barclays Bank Ghana Limited on Thursday.

The winners would receive tickets to enable them watch two live matches involving Manchester United and Chelsea in the United Kingdom as well as undertake stadium tours and visit tourism sites in the UK. Three family members made up of Samuel, Sara and Frances Jane Adjepong won three tickets out of the 20 winners of the raffle who are expected to be in the UK from 29th to 31st January with all expenses associated with the trip paid by the Bank.

Mrs Margaret Mwanakatwe, Managing Director of the Bank who presented the tickets to the winners said the Bank is the main sponsor of the English Premier League, which she noted is undoubtedly one of the exciting football leagues in the world. She said the ceremony is timely and noteworthy because the soccer fever in the country has reached fever high with just a few days to the commencement of the Ghana 2008 soccer tournament. The Managing Director took the opportunity to wish Ghana's Stars the best of luck in their opening match on Sunday against Guinea as well as in their other encounters.

Mrs Mwanakatwe said the raffle is in line with the vision of the Bank to sustain its leadership in the financial industry and to becoming the leading contributor to Ghana future development. She gave the assurance that Barclays Bank will continue to introduce products and services that would not only make banking flexible and bring it closer to the public by operating in almost all major cities and towns by the middle of this year but also add value to what they offer.

The management of the Bank said it has followed with keen interest the passion the English Premier League has generated in Ghana and have therefore decided to offer 'their cherished customers', most of whom are followers of the English game, an opportunity to watch live matches in the United Kingdom.
