Banking stocks maintain upward drive of bourse

Accra, Oct. 11, GNA - Banking stocks maintained the upward drive of the Accra bourse in trading on Thursday but high interest in Ayrton Drugs Manufacturing Limited saw more than 13.3 million shares changing hands.

The main index of the bourse inched up by 0.11 points at 5,708.88 points from 5.708.77 points while change for the year was 14.04 per cent.

Ayrton Drugs sold 13.28 million shares out of the 13.301 million that changed hands.

On the broader market, there were three price changes, all positive.

Ecobank went up by 0.0001 GH cedis at 1.6252 GH cedis, CAL Bank was 0.0002 GH cedis better at 0.3454 GH cedis and SG-SSB gained 0.0001 GH cedis at 1.0522 GH cedis.

Market capitalisation ended better at 11,770.12 million Ghana cedis from 11,770.06 million GH cedis.
