Auditor General, Daniel Yao Domelevo has disclosed that the Audit Service has developed an electronic software that will contain data of government institutions and organisations for declaration of its assets and liabilities.

According to him, the move is to clamp down on the ‘excuses’ persons in government institutions and organisations give when they are asked to declare their assets and liabilities.

“We started to develop an electronic software which is dubbed; “CitizensEye” that will allow people to electronically declare their assets and citizens can report issues and send feedbacks. So far, the software has been developed and ready for download and I have invited the Quality Assurance Team at the World Bank to conduct a quality assurance check because we need to safeguard people’s valuable data before we roll out the software,” he explained during an interview on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on November 5.

“In the meantime, we still have the existing manual declaration forms which should not be a reason why persons in government institutions and organisations cannot declare their assets and liabilities,” he added.

Mr Domelovo said Ghana’s current asset declaration regime system was rather weak as it makes room for asset concealment hence the introduction of an electronic online system.
