Trading on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) maintained the upward momentum of equities with gains in 11 major manufacturing, banking and industrial equities. The All-Share Index climbed 5.33 points to reach an all-time high of 457.63 points, up from Wednesday's 452.30 points. An analyst said fluctuations in the market are "short term" and that the market is adjusting itself. ''The companies are profitable, looking at the good financial results they post. As a result, they are attracting foreign and local investors. ''As long as they declare good results, investors will turn to them.'' The volume of shares traded rose sharply to 517,190, from the previous figure of 40,390 while the total bids of 57,597,370 outnumbered offers of 1,129,090. Market capitalization was up to 2,820.00 billion cedis compared with Wednesday's 2,801.70 billion cedis. Social Security Bank (SSB), Super Paper Products Company (SPPC) and Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) sold the most shares. On the broader market, eleven equities made gains with no loss. Ashanti Goldfields Company (AGC) led gainers by 100 cedis at 20,400 cedis but sold only 290 shares. The other gainers were SSB, which made 50 cedis at 1,650, Guinness Ghana Limited (GGL), 20 cedis at 480, Fan Milk Limited (FML), 15 cedis at 465 cedis, and Mobil Ghana Limited, 10 cedis at 6,210 cedis. Enterprise Insurance Company (EIC) was 10 cedis up at 430 cedis while GCB and Aluworks Company Limited (ALW) earned five cedis each at 690 cedis and 1,755 cedis. Kumasi Brewery Limited (KBL) gained three cedis at 878 cedis, CFAO made one cedi at 40 cedis, while Pioneer Tobacco Limited made four cedis at 384 cedis.
