AngloGold Ashanti warns the public over recruitment scam

AngloGold Ashanti is cautioning the public against fraudsters who have been using the name of people related to the company to extort monies from job seekers.

A statement issued Friday said some fraudsters “write to unsuspecting job seekers either on a fraudulently designed AngloGold Ashanti letterhead or the letterhead of other intermediary organisations” to offer them jobs.

But the company said the said vacancies “are false”, stating “those involved have not been contracted to recruit on behalf of AngloGold Ashanti”.

It has thus asked all persons who have fallen victim to the fraudsters to report to the police or the appropriate authorities for the necessary action to be taken.

Meanwhile, the company noted that there is the likelihood of some unscrupulous persons to engage in such illegal activities as it begins full production.

It said all job opportunities in the company and its subsidiaries will be published on its website.

“AngloGold Ashanti will never request payment of any fees as part of its recruitment processes,” the statement said.
