The Alliance of Drivers in Ghana is raising concerns over the conduct of some police officers and city guards, stating that their actions on the roads pose a growing threat to drivers.

Kwaku Boateng, the National Public Relations Officer for the Alliance of Drivers, stated that the safety of drivers is at risk due to officers who have created an unsustainable work environment.

He added that drivers feel the presence of police and city guards has become unnecessary and sometimes harmful to their daily operations.

"As we welcome the IGP, we strongly urge the police service and city guard to prioritize cleaning up their operations on our roads,” Boateng said.

“The current contributions from drivers to police officers have become unsustainable, and they cannot continue under such conditions,” he said on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM.

He called for immediate action to ensure that police and city guards on the roads become an asset to drivers, not a burden.

Boateng added that they expect the IGP to work toward improving the safety, security, and professionalism of the police service in relation to road transport.
