The Islamic Finance Research Institute of Ghana (IFRIG) has announced readiness to host the 5th Non-Interest Banking and Finance Forum at National Mosque on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
The theme for the 2026 edition is Non-Interest Banking in Ghana: Market Readiness, Products and Regulation.
“The theme is especially timely after the recent release of Guidelines for the Regulation and Supervision of Non-Interest Banking in Ghana; for us at IFRIG, we believe that the next leg of our advocacy will be crucial in supporting uptake of products when rolled out,” an IFRIG official said.
Among the presenters at the programme will be lawyer and law lecturer, Justice Abdulai, who will speak to the regulation side of issues. Director General of IFRIG will touch on the research leg while other speakers look at products and other areas of the non-interest banking and finance ecosystem.
The chairman for the programme is Nana Yiadom Boakye Kanto, Ankobeahene of Asante Apaah, who is also National Executive Council Member of AMMG and also MD of ALSALE Services Limited.
Ghana's Islamic finance strides
Ghana has in the last few years made significant strides in the area of advocacy for the adoption of Islamic finance (non-interest banking and finance).
The Bank of Ghana (BoG) in January 2026 published final guidelines for the upcoming industry with modalities for the rollout of banking windows and full-fledged banks.
Lead advocacy groups like IFRIG continue to lead advocacy efforts through a series of activities aimed at securing a smooth take off for the industry. So far, the state-owned GCB Bank has announced plans to roll out products in the area for its clients.
